Performance rain jackets for trail running

Are you heading onto the trail for longer, faster, or more technical terrain? Then a performance rain jacket is exactly what you need. These jackets are developed for serious trail runners seeking protection without compromising on breathability or weight.

What is a performance raincoat?

A performance rain jacket is a technically advanced hardshell that is both waterproof and highly breathable. Compared to basic models, they are lighter, more compact, and better suited for high exertion. Ideal for races, long distances, and varying mountain conditions.

When do you choose a performance rain jacket?

  • During long trail runs or ultratrails
  • During intense exertion in wet weather
  • As mandatory equipment during competitions
  • In the mountains or in rapidly changing conditions

These jackets are made to perform when it counts.

What do you look for when choosing?

Water tightness (water column)
Often higher than with basic coats (e.g. 15,000–20,000 mm or more).

Breathability
Essential for comfort during exertion – prevents you from getting wet inside.

Weight & packability
Ultralight and compact to store, ideal for your trail vest.

Technical features
Think of taped seams, smart ventilation, an adjustable hood, and waterproof zippers.
