Raide Research: less hassle, more walking
Raide Research makes gear for trail runners who want to carry everything with them without even noticing it. Every product solves a familiar problem: a water bottle that sloshes around, a jacket that is too warm for a short run, a shirt that sticks to your back while wet. The result feels calm and quiet, so your focus stays on the trail.
Which running belt suits you?
LF 2L Running Belt: for long runs and heavy loads. The back pocket is sturdy and keeps a full bottle, a rain jacket, and nutrition in place. Nothing bounces or slides, even on technical descents. This is a real alternative to a hydration vest on rides where you need to carry a lot but don't want a jacket.
UL 1L Running Belt: for fast runs with the essentials. This belt is thin and light, and you forget you're wearing it. It fits a bottle, your phone, and a few gels, and it stays secure against your lower back. This is the best choice for tempo runs, races up to the half marathon, and local trails.
Are you unsure? Take the LF 2L if you often walk for more than 2 hours or need to carry a jacket. Take the UL 1L if you mainly want to walk fast and light.
Drink without sloshing: the Locking Cap Flask
The 650 ml soft flask is soft and shrinks as you drink. So nothing sloshes, and it adapts to the shape of your belt or vest. With the sealable cap, nothing leaks into your pocket. For € 29,95 is this the easiest upgrade for your existing set, and a smart second bottle for a Raide belt.
Clothing that carries and stays cool
-
RaceTech Men's Tee. This shirt is so light you barely feel it, with underarm ventilation for warm climbs and race days.
-
Men's Thermal Dispersion Tee. It feels cool and smooth on your skin and stretches in all directions. The ventilation holes dissipate heat where you sweat the most.
-
TrailTech Cargo Tank Ladies. A fitted top with a double layer of fabric, so your bottle or phone stays close to your body. You don't need a belt or vest on short runs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a running belt enough or do I need a hydration vest?
Up to about 2 to 3 hours, or at a good hydration station along the way, a belt like the LF 2L is often sufficient and much cooler. For ultras with a mandatory equipment list, a jacket is more practical.
How do I choose the right belt size?
Measure your circumference where the belt sits, just below your navel. A Raide belt should fit snugly without pinching. If you are between two sizes, choose the smaller one for less movement.
Doesn't the belt really bounce?
That is the whole idea behind Raide. The back pocket is fixed and the material does not give way, so even with a full bottle, everything stays in place.
Can I try on a Raide belt in the store?
Yes, come visit our store on Maasstraat in Amsterdam. We'll try it on together and adjust the belt so you can feel how it fits.
