Topo Athletic

Topo Athletic at trrail.com: room for your toes, grip on the trail

Topo Athletic comes from the United States and designs shoes around the shape of your foot, not the other way round. Every Topo has a roomy, anatomical toe box where your toes can spread out with every landing. That gives more stability, fewer pressure points and less chance of blisters and black toenails on descents. The heel stays snug, so your foot doesn't slide. Add to that a low drop of 0 to 5 mm for a natural fit.

Which Topo trail shoe should you choose?

• Plenty of cushioning for long distances: the Ultraventure 5 is a favourite for ultras and long runs. Also available as the Ultraventure 5 GTX with a waterproof membrane.
• Fast in the mountains: the MTN Racer 4 combines cushioning with an aggressive outsole for technical terrain.
• Sturdy and protective: the Traverse 2 gives extra protection on rocks and rough paths.
• Zero drop: the Pursuit 3 for runners who want to run as naturally as possible.

From road to trail

Do you also run on the road? The Atmos 2 has plenty of cushioning and the same roomy toe box, ideal for long runs on asphalt and forest paths. For faster road runs there's the Specter 3.

Who is Topo for?

Topo is ideal if you have a wide forefoot, suffer from blisters or black toenails, or are switching from a high-drop shoe. Also see our shoes with a wide fit and shoes with a low heel drop.

Frequently asked questions

Do Topo shoes run true to size?
Yes, Topo runs true to size in length. Thanks to the wide toe box the shoe feels roomy at the front, but you don't need to size down.

Can I switch to a low drop straight away?
Build up gradually. Start with short runs so your calves and Achilles tendons can adjust.
