Waterproof beanies
(3 products)
A wet beanie cools your head faster than no beanie at all. A waterproof running beanie has a membrane between the outer and inner layer that keeps out rain and wet snow while still letting sweat escape. You stay dry and warm, even after hours in the rain.
How does a waterproof beanie work?
It has three layers: a knitted or stretch outer layer, a waterproof and breathable membrane (such as Porelle®) and a soft inner layer, often fleece or merino. It looks like a regular beanie, but your head stays dry.
When do you choose waterproof?
Go waterproof in cold rain, wet snow and drizzle combined with wind. That's typical Dutch winter weather, and exactly what you'll find in the mountains. When it's dry and cold, a warm beanie is lighter and more breathable.
Won't it get too warm?
A membrane breathes less than a thin stretch beanie, so these beanies work best at easy to moderate intensity and low temperatures. For fast intervals in the rain, a thin beanie or headband is often more comfortable.
